Sandwell Leisure Trust has issued dismissal and re-engagement letters to all staff, to remove them from national NJC terms and conditions. Despite being offered extra support from Sandwell Council the Board of SLT have rejected this and chosen to have industrial conflict.
Both UNISON and GMB have given notice to SLT of taking strike action on 18 December across all leisure centres currently open. Other dates of action will follow.
After being offered a way of settling this dispute it is regrettable that SLT have chosen industrial strife.
UNISON calls upon other UNISON Branches and other trade unions to show solidarity with workers at Sandwell Leisure Trust.
