How can a Labour Council allow staff set to run the new £73million Aquatic Centre in Sandwell be forced off national pay, terms and conditions, by an employer that has £3.5million in reserves?
Well that’s what is still happening in Sandwell, unless the Labour Council fixes the dispute soon.
UNISON have announced another strike day for Monday 23 August, after leafletting the Council Leaders ward, calling upon him to fix the dispute. This follows UNISON members already undertaking two one-day strikes following months of being furloughed during the lockdowns.
UNISON members working for Sandwell Leisure Trust have twice voted for industrial action against being forced to sign new contracts. The first time UNISON members voted by 69% for industrial action. The second time they voted by 78% for industrial action.
The dispute has ran on for ten months and UNISON will be calling more action soon unless it is fixed.
